DESCRIPTION:The Nawakwa Outdoor Association of New York will be holding a 2-day\, certifying wilderness first aid (WFA) class for keyholders and applicants. The fee for the class is $75\, to be paid directly to the instructor. Expect the Saturday class session to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Sunday session from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. \nThe weekend will be hosted primarily to accommodate WFA class participants\, but non-participants are welcome to come to camp\, too. Because the main water supply will be off\, meals will be hearty but simple to prepare and easy to clean up. DESCRIPTION:Raymond Torrey\, who was our first Chair\, was also the co-founder of the Trail Conference and its first Secretary\, a position he held until his untimely death (on his birthday\, July 28th) in 1938 at age 58. With efforts spearheaded by Torrey and the Trail Conference\, the first trails in Harriman State Park were blazed. During all these years\, Raymond Torrey published his Long Brown Path newspaper articles promoting all the trails being built in Harriman State Park \nThere will be a short presentation about Raymond Torrey after dinner on Saturday. A hike to the Torrey Memorial on Long Mountain (with a stop at Turkey Hill Lake) is planned for Sunday after breakfast (start time about 10:30). \nDinner menu: BBQ Chicken (with vegetarian option of Black Bean Burgers)\, corn-on-the-cob\, salad\, and homemade apple oatmeal crunch pie.   When registering for meals\, please indicate which meals  (Saturday dinner\, Sunday Breakfast and Trail Lunch)\, and if you want the vegetarian meals. \nHost: Ray Kozma. We will work until approximately 1:00 pm and then break for a hearty lunch of soup and sandwiches. DESCRIPTION:Come to Camp Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the Winter tranquility and fellow adventurous Nawakwans. Water will be turned off at Camp for the season so this will be a “no frills” weekend. The fireplace and wood stove in the main cabin will provide heat but cold-weather clothing and sleeping bags are required.  \nDinner will consist of a hearty soup\, hot spiced cider and wine\, Italian sausage dish (vegetarian option available) and Dutch oven bread pudding for dessert.
