An Unofficial Hike to Start Off the New Year

February 23, 2023

Great turnout for our first hike of the year!
Susan Shockett led an unofficial hike on Jan 21st up to Tom Jones Mountain. We were 10 Nawakwans in total for this 7 mile hike.

True to our community spirit, much of the group rallied to support an injured member on the return. Special thanks to Greg, our lake foreman, for his quick response when called, and offer to help. Our intrepid injured hiker declined both car and canoe rescue however, and made a safe return.

Looking forward to more adventures together in the year ahead!

Characters Restaurant

After a three-year interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, our club’s annual Winter Social has returned! Thirty-eight members took part enthusiastically in the luncheon which, for the first time, was held at Characters Restaurant in Sloatsburg. There was a lot of catching up to do, including a remembrance of eleven members deceased since the last Winter Social, acknowledgement of twelve fifty-year members, and presentation of awards to past Board members and past Committee Chairs (a full listing of the awards will be in the next Trail Marker).

Here are some photos from the event
