Bastille Day Hosted Weekend (Lewis Ports & Susanne Flower)

July 11 @ 1:00 pm - July 12 @ 1:00 pm

At this year’s Bastille Day we will play Pétanque around 3 p.m. (a French version of Bocce) followed by a picnic-themed dinner around 6 p.m. and then two back to back French film screenings (with English subtitles!) after dinner starting at 8 p.m..

Pétanque can be played by all in two teams on our horseshoe court (it doesn’t require a manicured playing court). It’s usually fueled by Pastis, a great prelude to dinner, and a lot of fun. No experience needed!

The BYOB meal will consist of numerous small cold French picnic dishes in your own “picnic basket.” Eat your meal at the waterfront, porch, main cabin, etc. We’ll all gather together afterwards at the main cabin for a “digestif”, intros and dessert.

Sunday morning we’ll offer a hearty breakfast which will include a Corsican omelette.

To register for the weekend please contact Jerry Flower (jerry.flower@verizon.net) by Wed. July 8th at 8 pm and specify which meal/s you’ll attend and any food allergies or dietary requirements.  Dinner is capped at 30 participants so please register early.

Our first Nawakwa Film Night!

The Activities Committee is providing the Camp projector for us to show two back to back French films, “Jean de Florette” and, “Manon of the Spring”.  They are stand-alone films but together complete the story of a family in 1920’s Southern France. Full of charm, depth and ambiance, they are the works of the famous author Marcel Pagnol with well-known French actors. This will be a full evening guaranteed to supply lots of emotions along with espressos and snacks!
