Saturday, April 8, 2023 – Silvermine Lake and Black Mountain

Join us for a hike through the gorgeous scenery of Northern Harriman park. Starting at the Silvermine Parking Area, we will take the Menomine Trail around Silvermine Lake, stopping at the Brian Memorial Shelter, before climbing to the Appalachian Trail.There will be spectacularviews of the Hudson River and surrounding mountains. Lunch at the top of Black Mountain (and a look for the fabled “Spanish Mine”). We will return to our cars via the Silvermine Road. The pace will be moderate, but the hike is strenuous at times and covers about 5 miles. Elevation gain is about 1,200 feet. Wear study hiking boots and carry lunch, snacks, raingear and water.
