Keyholder News

Looking for a few good Caretakers (message from Lisa North 7/29/2020)

Hello Keyholders! Due to the number of through hikers and trespassers already this season, we are offering the opportunity for keyholders to help safeguard Camp Nawakwa by volunteering to be a Caretaker.  The term would be whatever you can do, one day to …. ?, and of course, you may have paying guests. If you would like to be scheduled for Caretaker, just fill in the new camp access form, specifying your request to be Caretaker and the dates. Teri will respond as she does now for registration.
Also, just a reminder, of the two rowboats near the dock, one may be used for recreation, but one must always be at the dock for emergency use.

On behalf of the Board, Thank you

Lisa North, Chapter Chair

May 18, 2020: Possibility of a June opening for Nawakwa?
— the Board of Directors is investigating

To all Keyholders of ADKNY:

There has been some communication from the Park concerning the status of group camps in Harriman. There will be more guidance this week as the Park receives information from NY State on regulations in Phase 1 specific to camping, hiking, and outdoor activities. The Park, following State guidelines, is allowing group camps to open beginning June 1. Each group camp operates differently and will need to present to the Park a plan outlining their modifications to operate safely. Camp Nawakwa is not open until approval is given by the Park. This week, the Board will be discussing a plan for the safe and equitable opening of Camp Nawakwa. The plan will take into account suggestions from members, regulations of the State for outdoor activities for Phase 1, and CDC guidelines for sanitizing and safe distancing.
