Photos from our Labor Day Picnic Weekend

September 5, 2023

This past weekend we enjoyed a wonderful time together reviving the Labor Day Picnic at Nawakwa. The weather was beautiful and the party went outdoors! Tables were filled with Nawakwans, Applicants, and plenty of food too. A few of us made it over to the ACA camp for a country square dance to wrap up the evening

Saturday night before the picnic brought Nawakwans together for a 1970’s style Homemade TV Dinner. And a special raspberry-strawberry Barbie cake rounded things out.

Hope to see you soon at Camp Nawakwa.

Lake Sebago Partial Swim Ban on September 7

September 1, 2023

Dear Harriman Group Camps,

The SIXTH and final herbicide treatment in Lake Sebago is scheduled for Thursday September 7th to target hydrilla. This is the final treatment for the 2023 calendar year.
    • A 24-hour swimming restriction for the Northern Basin Only will be in place from the morning of Thursday September 7th to the morning of Friday September 8th, 2023. The swimming restriction will be lifted by 11:00am on Friday September 8th, 2023.
  • There is no swimming restriction in the southern basin.
Several hydrilla plants are staked with green stakes and red buoys throughout the lake, please avoid the stakes so that we can keep our sites clearly and accurately marked. Thank you!

Shoreline signage is installed at public access points along the lake which state the swimming restriction window for the northern basin and irrigation restriction for the whole lake. Project brochures are installed at the Sebago Boat Launch, inside the ACA Camp at the kiosk, and at the entrance to Sebago Cabins.
More information about the treatment is available on the project webpage. Parks has also posted blue banners regarding the treatment on the following webpages:
  • Harriman State Park webpage “Know Before You Go” section
  • Lake Sebago Beach webpage “Know Before You Go” section
A link to the June 1st Group Camps information meeting is now available on YouTube as well as linked on the project webpage. Stay tuned to the Project Webpage for updates on how treatment went for the season.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
