From Hike Leader Stephanie:

We had a small group but it was perfect for this 6+ mile challenging hike.  Took this picture at our half-way mark.

Special Event: 11/7 Wood Day (with preference to applicants!)

October 21, 2020 Leave a Comment

A Camp Workday is planned for November 7, weather permitting. There is no camp fee charged for Workdays. We will be processing logs for the wood pile, as well as other maintenance and new projects. This workday will be by special, Park-approved Permit. Participants must register within a week of 11/7, per our guidelines, on adkny.org.
This is a service event for applicants, priority given to those with no service event yet completed. If the ratio of keyholders to applicants is not sufficient, the event will not count toward a service requirement. However, applicants who have their service requirement, or don’t and just want to come out and help, get familiar with camp, and possibly meet a Sponsor, are certainly welcome.  Reserve your spot for the workday by email to Don Gabel: blaugabels@msn.com

Camp is Now Closed Until April 15, 2021

October 21, 2020 Leave a Comment

Camp Nawakwa is closed. Camp Nawakwa’s contract with the Park goes from April 15 – October 15. We have never had access during the off-season for individual use. Individuals who access camp without a Permit will endanger themselves and put our contract with the Park at risk.
Access to camp during the off-season is, traditionally, limited to a few very specific events with a finite timeframe, such as workdays for wood and maintenance.
The only member who can request a Permit from the Park is our Camp Chair, Don Gabel. Check adkny.org for events. Have a safe and healthy winter (ski heil!).
We look forward to a different version of camp in 2021.
