From our neighbors at the ACA:
Explore a new lake and help keep it clean. Please join us in helping the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM) to remove invasive water chestnut from Silver Mine Lake on Sunday, August 1st at 1 pm. This is a great chance for us to give back to a group that has helped out so much on Lake Sebago!
We’ll need to cartop boats over to Silver Mine Lake to help. Load your boat on your car and meet at 1 pm in the main parking lot at the ACA Camp on Lake Sebago to head over to Silver Mine Lake. Lindsay Yoder, PRISM coordinator, and some volunteers will also be at the lake from about 12:30 – 4 pm if people want to bring their own boat and go on their own.
What you’ll need
– Your own boat to cartop to Silver Mine Lake. We also may have a couple spots in canoes and there’s work that can be done on shore if someone wants to help but can’t bring a boat. (Please note in your sign up if you have a boat to bring or need a spot in one.)
– Rubberized work gloves if you have them. The barbs on seeds can be sharp!
– Wear shoes that can get wet and you might want long pants/sleeves in case of bug bites
Wondering what to expect at a water chestnut pull? Watch this quick video to find out https://youtu.be/-5gHmvd4OGQ
Email me back to sign up and please let me know if you can bring your own boat, need space in one/want to help on land, or have any questions.
Thanks and hope to see you this weekend!
Best,
Erin
