Postponed: Opening Weekend now May 2-3

April 15, 2026

Dear NOANY Members and Applicants:
The Board has decided to postpone Opening Weekend until May 2-3. The Park informed us just this morning 4/15 that they are making additional repairs to our water system. They will not be turning on our water for a week or more. As a result, we won’t have water this weekend, and doing all the activities to open camp and host everyone would be very difficult.
We very much hope many of you can make it May 2-3 instead!

Join our Governor’s Island Walk

March 6, 2026

Outing: Daylight Savings Time on Governors Island

March 14, 2026 9:45am to 1:00pm

Meet @ 9:45 on 3/14 inside the Governor’s Island Ferry Terminal at 10 South StSlip 7, New York, NY 10004. It’s near the heliport, just a minute north of the South Ferry. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, N, R and W trains are nearby. We’ll aim for the 10:00 am ferry which is free (as of this writing).

We’ll take a short ferry ride to a 172 acre island located a few hundred yards off lower Manhattan to walk Governors Island. The walk will take us through natural areas, along former Coast Guard housing, and up a very small (70’) hill to great views of the Lower Harbor. Good chances for bird spotting and public arts too. Maybe even a cruise ship sighting at the Brooklyn Terminal across Buttermilk Channel.

About 4 miles, wear walking shoes and warm layers. Extreme cold and or heavy rain cancels. Bring snacks as there might be just a few vendors open at this time of the season.

Register with Marty McDonald info@noany.org or text 646-232-7203 by Friday 3/13/26.
