Photos from the First Nawakwa Paint and Sip

May 25, 2023

The weather on Saturday, May 20, was wet and chilly, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of those participating in Nawakwa’s first Paint and Sip party hosted by Alex Wilkie and Edie Blum.  In the afternoon, Alex led nine other members and applicants through a class in the living room of the main cabin that showed them step by step how to use acrylic paints to render a mountain landscape. At the end of the afternoon, the participants were able to take home their finished creations.  In the evening, Edie and a skilled kitchen crew prepared a delicious dinner of roasted vegetables, couscous and grilled chicken.

New Kayak Dock

May 7, 2023

On Saturday May 6th Camp Nawakwa got a great new addition in the form of a kayak launch. This launch along with new floats for the boat dock should give members and guests of all ages more confidence to get on the water safely. The over head bar combined with the launch rails provides a very steady platform to enter and exit the lake in your watercraft of choice.

This boat launch and it’s subsequent installation was made possible by our Board of Directors and as always, a fantastic crew of volunteers that came out to help us get the work done! We can’t thank you enough!
Here’s a video from the manufacturer showing it’s intended use. (Please note our model has an improved handle design with 2 paddle notches.)

We look forward to seeing you on the water!
