Photos from the Roosevelt Island walk

February 22, 2025

We had good timing with the weather this day, beautiful blue skies and crisp air highlighting our Roosevelt Island outing. Plenty of good conversations and a few rest stops to enjoy the picture perfect views. The gang wrapped up the walk with the best (and only!) pizza on the island.

Photos from the Roosevelt Island Snow Walk

February 9, 2025

A few pics from our walk around Roosevelt Island. Lots of snow on the ground but by the start of the walk almost everything had been plowed or shoveled off the sidewalks of RI. Weather was nice, with plenty of birds to be seen along the walk, and great views of Manhattan and Queens. And the tram ride was enjoyable too.

Join the next walk on February 22, same place, same start time, just less snow (hopefully)!

Photos from the Winter Social and Awards

January 28, 2025

We had a great turnout this past weekend at Characters, nearby to Camp Nawakwa. Very good food and wonderful atmosphere kept the gang going throughout the afternoon. Awards were presented by Eve Mancuso (our new Chairperson) – to Suzanne Rocheleau, Ellen King, and Ray Kozma (now chairperson emeritus!) plus our newest 50 year member, Lilian Zwyns. Thanks to Dave Hayes for donating the awards.

We’ll see you all at Camp soon!

Photo from our Central Park Outing

December 16, 2024

Yes it was a bit cold at the start but we soon warmed up with a nice walk through Central Park. Our group of 9 meandered and wandered, ending up with a ramble through the Ramble and a hot chocolate and coffee at the end. We spotted a few tourists and even an unknown goose or two.

Come join a few Nawakwans on the next hike or outing

What’s App Messaging for Nawakwans

December 12, 2024

What’s App Group Explanation
What’s App, a popular and free messaging app is now available to Nawakwa Members and we have a dedicated group chat with moderators. This group will act as an online meeting place and allow folks (both applicant’s & members) to connect in regards to transportation and camp visits. Sometimes you just need a buddy, a ride or a little more info about an upcoming event. This app is completely optional to join and or participate in but will serve as a great connection and source of information if enough people opt into using the app.
Step 1: On your iPhone or Android device head to your official App Store and search “WhatsApp”, download the application and then open it.
Step 2: Once the app is installed on your phone you can click the link below to join the NOANY group. We do ask that you use your real name so that people know with whom they are chatting with.

If anyone is having trouble or would like additional help setting up the app or joining the group, Dave Hayes & Jess Scirbona will be offering quick tutorials during the Opening Workday for the 2025 season during lunch and as needed.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Camp!
Best Wishes,
-Dave
